WECE Elections Print E-mail

Interested in running for a position on the WECE Board next year?  WECE Elections for 2006-07 will be held Wednesday, April 26th (NOTE DATE CHANGE), 7-9 pm, room 241 Everitt.  All ACTIVE members are encouraged to run. In order to be an active member, you must be on our email list and have attended at least one WECE event.  If you are interested in being an officer please submit an application by Friday, April 21st via email to .  See below for the application and descriptions of the officer positions, with current officers listed.

ANNOUNCEMENT: The position of Vice President will be opened up to all active members as an available position.  As this office requires more experience, the current board will decide the Vice President by interview.  Interviews will be conducted the week of April 24th.

1) Name
2) NetID
3) Class (Fr, So, Jr, Sr)
4) Positions Running For (up to 3)
5) One brief description (150 words maximum) for each position on why you are a suitable candidate and what plans you have
6) Updated copy of your resume.

 

DESCRIPTIONS OF WECE OFFICERS 

President

The President oversees all Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering activities and must (along with the vice president) have previous experience on the WECE board.

Current officer: Catherine Wah (cwah) 

 

Vice President 

The Vice President actively assist sthe President and works with the Academic Director in coordinating the WECE technical projects.  The vice president must have previous experience as a WECE officer. (However, see announcement above.)

Current officer: Elaine Wah (ewah)

 

Treasurer

The Treasurer oversees all expenses, income, and balances for the various Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering accounts.

Current officer: Amy Chow (amychow2)

 

Secretary

The Secretary is responsible for taking minutes at WECE meetings, producing the announcements for the WECE weekly electronic newsletter, and keeping track of the members and active membership status.

Current officer: Swati Acharya (sachary2)

 

Academic Director

The Academic Director chairs all WECE academic programs throughout the year, in all aspects including recruiting, chairing, and organizing WECE’s project participants.

Current officer: N/A

 

Outreach Director

The Outreach Director maintains relations with the University of Illinois’ Women in Engineering Program and local elementary, middle, and high schools; chairs outreach programs to increase awareness of ECE for women; and develops and maintains presentations, pamphlets, posters, and/or website for outreach purposes.

Publicity Chair

The Publicity Chair is responsible for publicizing all WECE General Meetings and activities sponsored by WECE, through various means.

Current officer: Erin Moy (erinmoy2)

 

Social/Philanthropy Chair

The Social/Philanthropy Chair plans  social activities in Women in Electrical and Computer Engineering and joint social events with other organizations, as well as coordinates and organizes philanthropy events throughout the year.

Current officer: Kirsten Stark (kstark2) 

 

Engineering Council Representative

The EC Representative serves as WECE's liaison to Engineering Council.  The EC Representative is responsible for any EC paperwork, including applying for EC funds and monthly and annual EC awards.
